Zespół Szkół Budownictwa nr 1 consists of two secondary schools: Technikum Budowlane (Technical Construction College) and XXI Liceum Ogólnokształcące (Grammar School). The Technical College is over 100 years old, whereas the Grammar School was founded in 1991. There are about 560 students altogether who learn in 6 classes of technical school and 14 classes of grammar school. The students are from 16 to 19 years old. There are about 50 teachers working in the school (twenty of whom have the highest qualifications possible).
The school is located at Rybaki 17, in the centre of Poznań. Although the school building is very old (over 100 years old), the school can boast with spacious, well-equipped classroms. There are three computer classrooms, a small gym, two fitness rooms, a library and a multi -media centre for students. One of the most popular places is a school bar.
CLUBS AND SCHOOL ORGANISATIONS
Students can develop their interests in different clubs , for example Foreign Languages Club, Geography Club, Maths Club, etc. Students’ Council is a very active organisation which organises a lot of cultural, historical, sports and charity events. Some of them, e.g. Sports Day, First Class Student Day or Charity concert are annual events. Students publish their own school magazine. You can also watch the performances prepared by our school Theatre Group. Every year the School organises (with the help of American Embassy in Warsaw) the recitation contest. Students actively take part in the national and regional events such as “Collect a penny”, “Clean the World”, “Clean the City”, “Recycling Rumpus” or “Lets read a story”. Students also organise a mini company, where they learn how to run their own business.
The students of the school take part in many competitions. They have won technical tournaments and the National Competition of Construction Skills and Knowledge many times. They have consecutively won the contest for Christmas Crib Design. They have succeeded in the Computer Graphics Contest (Grafkom), various recitation and theatrical contests and computer tournaments. They have successfully taken part in other competitions and contests (geographical, musical, healthy eating, etc).
For many years the school was a volleyball city and region champions. They were also the national champions twice. The graduates of the school are professional volleyball players who play in Polish national team and First League Volleyball teams. The students are also successful at shooting tournaments and other sports events (e.g. swimming, table tennis or athletics competitions).
